Host Computer System Upgrade - The new Host can
use a new protocol/interface whilst the existing Hosts or Devices use the
original protocol/interface.

Simplification of Complex Protocols - Complex
Device Protocols and Interfaces can be simplified making development of the
Host System straightforward (i.e. Using XML to communicate to Devices).

One-By-One Device Upgrades - Where the Host
communicates to a number of devices (i.e. Automated Stacker Cranes), each
Device can be upgraded individually (using a new protocol/interface) and Gipsy
will communicate to both old and new Devices simultaneously, without any
changes to the Host System.

Breaking tight dependencies - Often communications
bring tight dependencies between Host and Device equipment. Gipsy breaks these
dependencies leaving you free to upgrade your Host and Device equipment in the
future. Gipsy is very adaptable and can easily be upgraded to use different
interfaces or protocols as your system is upgraded through the years.
A protocol converter is often required to overcome incompatibility issues with
automation system retrofits and upgrades. Our network protocol conversion
software is ideal for this task, we have successfully implemented Gipsy on a
number of sites to overcome upgrade issues on automated stacker crane PLC's,
conveyor PLC's and host systems, but the list of possible applications for
Gipsy is endless.
